Last Friday NBC Telemundo reported on Summit Tahoma's success, including that 100% of our 2016 graduates have ben accepted to 4-year colleges. The report will air sometime this week, possibly Wednesday night. We shared important parts of our school's journey with them:
"Students have been offered places at 70 colleges, including some of the top colleges across the country...Many Summit students overcame significant obstacles including socio-economic challenges, to reach this point. Nearly half of Summit’s graduating seniors will be the first in their family to attend college...Now in its fifth year, Summit Tahoma has been offering to hundreds of San Jose students, a tuition-free public school education in a personalized learning environment. Through this model, students engage in deeper learning projects and are empowered to become self-directed learners, helping them to develop the habits and skills that lead to academic and personal success - including college acceptance."
This announcement also comes after Summit Tahoma achieved a Bronze Award for Best US High Schools as listed by U.S. News and World Report, as well as receiving recognition for challenging its students by making it on to the Washington Post’s list of Most Challenging High Schools in America.
We're proud of our Thunderbirds!
